Guide: Skateboard Decks

On our website, we have a wide selection of skateboard decks. We know that when it comes to browsing for a new skateboard deck, it can be overwhelming knowing which deck best suits you. In this guide we have compiled all the information you may need.

First things first, you need to consider what you are wanting to doing on your skateboard. Are you using it for street skating, park skating, or just simply for cruising around. Knowing what you want to do on your board will help you when it comes to picking the correct size.

7.5”

  • younger skaters
  • skaters below the age of 9 years old
  • great for someone who may struggle to pop, flip or ride a full sized board!

7.5” – 7.9”

  • Suits smaller feet
  • street skateboarding
  • easier to flip and pop
  • Note – older skaters still ride these size boards!

8.0” – 8.4”

  • Very versatile
  • ideal for both street skating and transition (ramp) skating
  • harder to flip than a smaller board

8.5” +

  • suited to vert and bowl riding
  • cruise around on and just general transport
  • comfortable ride

Remember this is just a guide and find the best board for you comes down to personal preference.

The best way to know if a skateboard is right for you in going into a skate shop and hold the deck against you. The nose of the deck should be hip height, that way when you ride the board your feet aren’t too widely spread. Also, when in a skate shop, it is worth standing on the board and make sure you are comfortable, also, to make sure your feet fit on the board correctly – diagram below.
