Kenny Napolitano is the latest team rider for Pantheon to get himself a pro deck. Partly due to his incredible style, partly hard work, and partly because he needed a certain style of deck that Pantheon felt really fit well into their growing lineup. Kenny is a versatile rider, and Pantheon have been watching him absolutely slay every deck in the lineup, but when they first saw him skate, he was on a big single kick. Here they are, full circle.  The “Los Osos,” as he calls it, is the type of large single kick deck that lets Kenny be Kenny. And who knows? Maybe it’ll give you the same type of freedom that you’ve been looking for in a downhill skateboard, too.

It's not just a pro model in name only. Pantheon’s pro model decks have a profit share set up to help fuel this pro rider’s dreams. They don’t want to overstate themselves. Pantheon Boards are still a small company selling limited numbers of their pro model decks. But when you ride this pro’s model, you are literally taking part in supporting this skater’s life. Each one counts toward their goal of supporting these skaters they believe in.

The Construction

This board is constructed with 8-ply maple and triaxial fiberglass. The fiberglass is placed underneath the top and bottom layers of wood to enhance rider comfort. Featuring a tail, this deck is designed to withstand heavy use. To prevent riders from getting fiberglass splinters as the board wears, the outer layers are made of maple, offering the benefits of fiberglass without the risk. Similar to all current Pantheon boards, it is fully laminated with waterproof resin, making it significantly more weatherproof and warp-resistant than many other boards, though not entirely waterproof. It provides downhill stiffness right out of the box.

The griptape used is 60 grit across the deck. After extensive testing, this 60 grit has proven to be grippy without being excessive and appears to be the most durable option so far. This same grip is used on the Fantail Cruiser and the Bamboo Supersonics.

Concave

The concave on the Kenny Napp features a fairly standard medium-low radial design. Wheel flares are precisely positioned for the front and back wheels, shaped to align perfectly with the wheel wells. This design causes the concave to become slightly more aggressive near the bolts. Overall, the board offers a relaxed feel with functional flares that enhance performance for more technical riding.

Concept

Kenny Napolitano is the latest team rider to receive a pro deck. This achievement is partly due to his incredible style, partly to his hard work, and partly because he needed a specific style of deck that fit perfectly into the growing lineup. Kenny is a versatile rider, consistently excelling on every deck in the lineup. When first observed, he was skating on a big single kick. Now, the journey comes full circle with the "Los Osos," as he calls it—a large single kick deck that embodies Kenny's unique style. It may also offer the same sense of freedom for others seeking a versatile downhill skateboard.

Setups

This deck performs best with 165mm trucks and round lips for an ideal rail-matched setup. It can also accommodate wider square lips with 150mm trucks, or the classic 180mm trucks for a broader, traditional downhill configuration. Generally, from 150mm upwards, there isn't a wrong way to set up this board, but a symmetrical setup is recommended. While asymmetrical setups are acceptable, the symmetrical standing platform feels great for switch riding and excels with a symmetrical setup. The classic 50/50 setup will minimize wheelbite, while the 40/40 or 43/43 setup offers increased stability at higher speeds.

The Graphic

The new art on the "Los Osos" (the bears) graphic is by Rafa Alvarez. This concept comes straight from Kenny's mind and experience, inspired by a real-life encounter where he literally ran into a bear while going downhill. The artwork humorously depicts the bear going home and recounting the experience to its family. A big thanks goes to Kenny and Rafa for this one.
